  2. About Florida Virtual School Florida is a nationally-recognized leader in K-12 virtual education. Florida has the largest state virtual school in the nation and Florida school districts offer online schools, programs and/or courses for their students. Florida's virtual schools and programs provide high quality online instruction and curriculum that meet state and national standards and are held accountable for student and school/program performance.   4. Accreditation FLVS is a public school choice providing middle and high school curriculum to Florida residents for FREE. All of their courses are delivered fully on-line. FLVS is accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI).   5. FLVS: Part-time Option FLVS Part-time— operates three schools to offer a supplemental online option (online courses) for Florida students in grades K-12. The middle and high school together offer over 125 courses for grades 6-12 students statewide (Florida Public Virtual School 2013)

  6. FLVS Full-time option FLVS Full-time(FLVS FT)— operates two schools (grades K-8 and grades 9-12) to offer a full-time, grades K-12 public online program. Full-time virtual schools are school choice options for all students across the state. School districts and virtual charter schools may also contract with the Florida Virtual School to provide the FLVS FT program to district public school students. (Florida Public Virtual School 2013)

  10. Course Offerings FLVS offers more than 120 courses—including core subjects, world languages, electives, honors, and 15 Advanced Placement courses. FLVS courses are accepted for credit and are transferable. FLVS also offers AP Exam reviews in April, even for students who did not take the course through FLVS.   11. Course Offerings FLVS FT program is comprehensive in that all required courses for graduation are included. Students can choose from a variety of enrichment and elective courses. In grades 3–8, students may participate in courses for enrichment, advancement, and acceleration in science, language arts, and math. At the high school level, students may opt for any of 13 Advanced Placement courses. FLVS also provides foreign language (Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, French and Latin) courses, advanced math and science courses (physics, calculus, etc.), and other electives. (FLVS 2013)

  13. FLVS: Faculty FLVS has over 1,800 staff members who reside throughout Florida and beyond. All FLVS teachers possess a valid Florida teaching certificate and are certified specifically in the subject they teach. One hundred and twenty-five instructors are national board certified. (FLVS 2013)
