  5. Today we are going to learn • a little bit about what life is • like for children in Kenya • and Uganda who want • to go to school.

  10. After breakfast how to you get to school? • By car or bus? • Do you walk • to school?

  11. Some of you walk How long does it take to walk to school?

  12. In Africa almost all children have to walkto school • It can take them over an hour to • walk to school

  13. It is a long way and it’s hot too

  14. And when they get to school the classrooms are falling apart

  15. And there are not enough desks • so children have to sit on the floor

  16. Sometimes there are no classrooms • so they have lessons under a tree

  17. And if they do not have enough books • they have to share or go without

  18. Think about your school and your classroom and your desks

  19. Are they very different to • a school in Africa?

  20. Children in Africa are desperate • to go to school and learn

  21. Irine wants to be a nurse when she grows up

  22. Why would it be hard for • Irine to learn at school?

  23. Hard to hear if it is windy or raining

  24. Lessons are cancelled and students sent home when it rains

  25. Hard to concentrate • if you don’t • have a desk • and a chair • to sit on

  26. Cannot practice writing when you • do not have any books

  27. Would you want to go to school • if it looked like this?

  28. That’s why Build Africa • needs your help

  29. Build Africa wants to build • safe classrooms

  30. So that children can learn properly

  31. Sitting at their own desks

  32. And with enough textbooks so that • they do not have to share

  33. And you can help Build Africa! • Your school • can raise money to …
