  7. Safety through Awareness Walk in a familiar areas and avoid alone at night. Don’t wear headphones. You need to be aware of your surroundings. Avoid unpopulated areas, deserted streets, and alleys Always carry identification and medical information. If someone makes you feel uncomfortable, trust your feelings and move away. If you are followed, seek safety at a public facility. Consider carrying money and cell in a leg wallet

  8. Safety through Awareness Know where your blue light phones are while on campus. Don’t text while walking, you become vulnerable. Watch your cell phone conversations. When a teller or clerk asks for your phone number, write it don’t say it. Watch where you are counting money. Always have an escape plan while walking. Avoid using ATMs in the evening.

  9. Safety through Awareness When leaving a store or restaurant, know where your vehicle is and have your keys ready. If you are concerned for your safety, return to the store and ask for assistance, most stores have security for escorts. Make sure all of your contact information in your Pacific Connect is updated. Have the Public Safety number in your cell phone address book.
