  10. Security • Copy URL and email to staff member and have them save to favorites • eCW Security Settings • Restrict folder access • Report level access (they need to have access to entire link –bread crumbs- or they won’t be able to see it)

  11. eCW Security Settings Older databases access eBO from PM Dashboard (under Billing band) Newer databases access eBO from Reports (top tool bar)

  12. eBO Security Settings • Users • Individual staff members: may be assigned to one or more role or group in eBO • Groups • Staff members all having the same eBO security requirements and permissions • Roles • The highest level of grouping; task based, may be made up of users and/or groups

  13. eBO Security Settings • Step 1 Select the Administrator • Click on the Launch menu • Select eClinicalWorkseBO Administration • Click on the Security tab • Click on Cognos • Click on Properties icon for System Administrators (page over to get to the S’s) • Click on the Members tab to see who is there – by default it is Everyone • Click Add • Add the user(s) you wish to be eBO System Administrators • Remove Everyone group Note: It is very important for there to always be someone in the System Administrators role. Never delete the last person out of this role before adding the next one.

  14. eBO Security Settings • Creating a new group • Click the New Group Wizard icon • Give the group a name (description and screen tip are optional) • Click the Next button to select the members (click Add, then Cognos)

  15. eBO Security Settings • Check in the boxes to select members • Use the green arrow to populate the ‘selected entries’ window • If you check the ‘show users in the list’ box, individual users will display

  16. eBO Security Settings • Once the new group is created, select the permissions by clicking on the Properties icon • Click on the Permissions tab • The permissions default to those of the parent entry. If you wish to change them check the ‘Override the access permissions acquired from the parent entry’ box • Use the check boxes to define permissions

  17. eBO Security Settings • Traverse – this is necessary to be able to see the ‘bread crumbs’ to the end reports. If this isn’t granted the user(s) may not be able to access the desired reports. i.e. a user must have at least traverse capability for the parent report if they are to have access to the child. • Setting Security at the folder level • Click on the Properties icon next to the folder • Click on the Permissions tab and follow the previous process

  18. Things to Know About Navigation • Use the eBO refresh button • Use the eBO back arrow • Use the log out (don’t just X out of eBO) • If there are more than 15 entries on a screen there is ‘next’ arrow (it is very small)

  19. Handy Tip You can copy the eBO URL and save it to your favorites. If you do this, you don’t have to go to eCW to get into eBO Reports!
