Course Objectives • Develop college readiness in reading and writing, with an emphasis on nonfiction • Develop college readiness in researching and writing a research term paper • Develop ability to write clear, well-organized, correct, and sophisticated essays on demand (in-class essays) • Develop ability to write complex sentences in a variety of ways • Develop ability to read critically: draw inferences; analyze style ; recognize author’s purpose and theme

  3. GRADING POLICY • Homework: 10 pts • Classwork: 10 pts • Quizzes: 10- 30 pts • Essays: 100 pts • Tests: 50 – 100 pts • Research Paper: 200 – 300 pts • Classwork: 10% of grade up to 50 pts maximum
