  3. Add Music • Insert • Movies and Sounds • Sound from clip organizer (variety to choose from) • Sound from file (if there is music already saved on the computer) • Play CD audio track (if you have songs on a cd that you want to choose from) • With this option you can include just part of a song

  4. Custom Animations This sentence will enter as “checkerboard” and exit as “diamond.” • Slide Show • Custom animation • Select the text or graphic you want to animate and click the “add effect” button. • You can have something enter, exit, or add emphasis to an item. • You can also select how fast an animation occurs. • Motion paths is what you can use to change the direction of an animation coming on or off the screen. • You can also layer text and pictures on top of each other. (Just make sure to have stuff enter and exit so the presentation is not layered) It will look like a mess on the page when you are working on it, but the presentation should be fine. This sentence will enter as “blinds” and exit as “box”. There are several effects to choose from for entrances and exits of text and graphics. This was “fly in” and will “fly out”. The emphasis is “change font size”.

  5. Hyperlink a Video • There is more than one way to do this. You could insert a picture and then make that picture link to a video on YouTube. If you have the movie file, then you will need to create a disc and you can add it to the PowerPoint using Insert, then Movies and Sounds.

  6. Word Replacement • Edit • Find (type the word you want to find) • Click the “replace” tab (type the word you want to replace it with) • Click the “replace all” tab

  7. Make pictures appropriate First, insert an AutoShape by choosing the rectangle or oval from the drawing tools. Right click, then go to “Format AutoShape” Fill with the color of your choice. Position over the picture to cover anything inappropriate. Finally, hold the shift key as you left click on the pictures. Right click and go to “Grouping”. Select group to keep them together.

  8. Be creative, but be able to read the text • Select a background. • Fill in the text box with a color. • Start typing your information. • Now you’ve created a frame.

  9. Fade in Fade out Fade in and out First, select the text or graphic that you want to fade in or out. Slide Show, Custom Animation, then add effect. If you want it to repeat, just copy the effect.

  10. Information about the next slide. • After this slide, what you see is all on one slide. Pay attention to how many times information is presented. • After you finish the slideshow, press “Esc” and then look at slides 4 and 11. Notice that the presentation looked very nice, but if you were to print out the slides themselves, slides 4 and 11 would be a mess.

  11. Financial Toll Aftermath of the Battle of Verdun • Mass destruction of property from France to Russia • Homes, farms, factories, roads and churches – shelled to rubble • People felt bitter and wanted losers to pay reparations • Payments for war damage Original caption: Aftermath Of Great War - Scenes In Berlin. The original German caption says 'A great friend of children distributing money & food gifts to Berlin schoolchildren.'
