  2. Legal Issues • Acceptable use • Acceptable Use Policies are created to protect students by giving them boundaries for computer use • These are to be reviewed with the students and signed by parents

  3. Legal Issues • Software Piracy • Copying or installing software on more than one computer • This is considered stealing!

  4. Ethical issues • Privacy • A concern for the sharing of students’ information for their safety • Teachers need parents’ permission before sharing any work or information belonging to the student

  6. Ethical issues • Freedom of Speech • The Internet is not automatically filtered or regulated and may contain inappropriate content • Students should have filter software and be monitored at all times

  7. Social Issues • Cyber bullying • Bullying can now be done through social interaction • This can be done on computers and/or devices that students possess • Students’ privacy to unintentional viewers is at risk • How can we avoid cyber bullying?

  8. Social Issues • The Digital Divide • Not all students will have the same abilities to access technology, mainly due to socioeconomic status • Teachers’ should create computer work that is fair and reduces any technological imbalance
