Reuse of Telephony Servers for Digital International Switching Centres

In February 2003, the industry was notified of a limited DLE replacement program utilising Telephony Servers (TeS). This notification was retracted in November 2003. A decision was later made to repurpose existing hardware for the replacement of Digital International Switching Centres (DISCs) using TeS, specifically the AXE and AXDML models. Initial installations of TeS began in November 2004, with further deployments planned from 2005 onwards. The closure program for existing DISCs is targeted for 2007-2008, with plans still under evaluation.
