  9. Potential projects for Durban: Energy efficiency – Oslo replaced 10,000 street lights with high-pressure sodium bulbs and installed system that reduces light levels when need is low. Energy consumption reduced by 70% CO2 emissions cut by 1,440 tonnes/year. Ports – Göteborg, Sweden implemented system to replace polluting onboard diesel power generation of ships at berth with renewable energy from wind turbines. System has resulted in a 94-97 % reduction in emissions at berth for participating ships. Mitigation Best Practices

Potential projects for Durban: Renewable Energy – Melbourne installed the largest urban grid-connected solar system on the roof of a historic market building resulting in CO2 reduction of 1,310 tonnes since 2003. Transport – San Francisco's Clean Air Vehicle program is a requirement for city fleets to utilize energy efficient and alternative fuel vehicles. The CO2 reduction is close to 5,350 tonnes per year.
