  2. What is IACRA? IACRA, the Integrated Airman Certification and/or Rating Application, is a web-based application that uses online validation and digital signatures to verify the output data. Upon successful completion of the file, the Registry issues applicants a permanent airman certificate.

What Does IACRA Do? • Processes applications for airman certification via the web • Significantly reduces certification processing time • Interfaces with critical elements of multiple FAA databases for data validation and verification • Automatically ensures applicants meet regulatory and policy requirements • Implements use of digital signatures throughout certification process • Automatically produces results documents

Database Integration IACRA integrates with the following organizations/databases: • PTRS – Integration on or before 11/15/03 • AVR Data Mart • ATS – Airman Testing Standards (Knowledge Testing) • PTS – Practical Test Standards • NVIS - National Vital Information Subsystem • Airmen – Comprehensive Airman database • Reference - lookup tables from mainframe sources

  13. Required Software Only the Microsoft Internet Explorer Web browser (v5.5 and higher) and Adobe Acrobat Reader (v5.0 and above) are required for users to access the application.

  20. Transition At this point, the Applicant Registration is complete and an FAA Tracking Number (FTN) has generated for the applicant, which he records for future use. The Recommending Instructor must now register (for the purposes of this overview – though in reality , the RI could have registered long before or even after the applicant). The RI registration is far less complex than the applicant registration. This is due to the validation process IACRA uses to ensure that the data requested from the RI at registration is validated in national FAA databases as being accurate and current.

  26. Transition Now that all of the participating parties have registered, the process starts with the applicant filling out an IACRA application. The applicant has Registered and has been returned to the IACRA Home Page where he is required to Log In to begin a new application.
