  3. STJH Grading Categories: • Class Work 30% —Enzymes, Notes, Practice Pages, Activities, Labs, Planner • Homework10% —Assignments to be done at home • Tests 40% —Tests, Projects, Labs, Quizzes • Exam 20% —covers all content from the quarter

  4. Helping Students Succeed: My interventions: • Allow retakes of failed quizzes and tests (not exams). • Allow late assignments (worth up to 70% credit). • Available before and after school most days for extra help, retakes, make-up, etc. • Class binders for planner assignments and make-up work. • Responsive to parent contact. Email is best.

  5. Helping Students Succeed: I need your support: • Read the back of your yellow handout. • Insist that your child: • Try his or her best (organization, assignments, etc.) • Not earn zeros—ever! • Study a little every night • Communicate with me about what is going on with your child • Check JPAMS regularly

  6. Grade Book Entries: Late Work & Retakes Late Grade Original Score Example: A student turned in complete homework 1 day late. (0 was the original score, 70 is the late grade.) Example: A student failed a quiz and retook it. (30 was the original score, 85 is the retake grade.) Grade=70.0 2nd Attempt Original Score Grade=85.30
