Satire: Definitions • An attack on human follies or vices, as measured positively against a normative religious, moral, or social standard (Roberts and Zweig). • A kind of literature that ridicules human folly or vice with the purpose of bringing about reform or keeping others from falling into similar folly or vice (Arp and Johnson). • A genre of literature…in which vices, follies, abuses, and shortcomings are held up to ridicule, ideally with the intent of shaming individuals, corporations, and society itself, into improvement (Wikipedia).
