  1. Searches for New PhysicsWith Leptons at the Tevatron Jonathan Hays Imperial College London On behalf of the CDF and D0 Collaborations

  2. Overview • Neutralinos and Charginos • Stops • New resonances • W’, Z’, and Gravitons • Heavy or composite fermions Leptons – clear signatures at hadron colliders -> triggers and event selection

  3. Neutralinos and Charginos Direct EWK production – jet free SUSY – squarks and gluinos typically heavy Barger et al., hep-ph/0003154 Spectacular 3 lepton signature Low cross section Leptons can be soft “Golden signature”

  4. Trileptons PLB 680, 24 (2009) Final states with 3 leptons eel, l, el, l/ Optimised for 2 mSUGRA reference models

  5. Trileptons Similar analysis at CDF PRL101:251801,2008 CDF-Note 9817 Classify events according to lepton quality

  6. Trileptons No significant excesses observed Interpret results in mSUGRA

  7. Stop Searches Stop potentially lighter than top arXiv:0912.1308 Assume chargino light neutralino LSP Look for stop mimicking top production    tb±1b01l± D0-Note 5937 • Assume chargino heavy • sneutrino LSP • eµ+(bb)+MET signature l+l-+jets>1 +MET signature With and without b-tags

  8. Stop Searches 128 < mstop < 135 Excluded at 95%CL

  9. Stop Searches Set limits using 2D bins ST (leptons + MET) vs HT (jets)

  10. RS Gravitons Warped extra dimensions Predicts KK-gravitons Lightest M1 ~ TeV avoids fine-tuning D0 Preliminary D0 Preliminary e+e- and  final states Dominant backgrounds Drell Yan and SM 

  11. RS Gravitons No significant excess observed D0 Preliminary D0 Preliminary M1 > 440  1040 GeV k/MPl 0.01  0.1

  12. Diboson Resonances Search in WW and WZ final states e + MET + 2(3) jets Optimise ET cuts for G, W’, Z’ CDF-Note 9730

  13. Diboson Resonances W’ decaying into WZ Predicted in many theories 3 leptons + MET No evidence of resonant WZ production Exclude 188 < MW’ < 520 (SSM) 208 < MT < 408 (LSTC) PRL 104, 061801 (2010)

  14. Heavy Fermions Search for 4th gen b’ or composite B and T5/3 l±l±+bj+MET ± QtW, tbW+ Data: 2 events, Bgd: 1.6 ± 1.4 Mb’,MB > 338 GeV MT5/3 > 365 GeV arXiv:0912.1057 Submitted to PRL

  15. Just a sampling of NP Searches at Tevatron LHC era approaches rapidly! However – Tevatron still has work to do Potential for discovery still there
