  1. What Is Egg Donation and Sperm Donation?

  2. Egg Donation Some couples are infertile because the female partner is unable to produce any eggs (oocyte). For these women, an IVF cycle using donated eggs offers them a chance to become pregnant.

  3. Who Needs Egg Donation? The decision to use donor eggs often comes after a long fertility journey that may include multiple failed treatment cycles.

  4. Women who still menstruate and have normal ovarian function. • Women whose ovaries no longer function normally who may have gone through the menopause. • Women who have no ovaries or had them removed. • Women who have had cancer treatment which have damaged the ovaries. • Women who are post- menopausal or producing too few or poor quality eggs.

  5. Women who have tried to conceive unsuccessfully using fertility drugs or IVF. • Women who have had several recurrent miscarriages. • Women who have a high risk of passing on a serious inherited disorder.

  6. Sperm Donation Some couples are infertile because the male partner has a low sperm count, is not producing any sperm at all, or if there is a high possibility of passing on a known genetic condition. We will help you get started as a sperm recipient (via donation) process. You will begin by reviewing donor profiles which enables you to select which donor may be the best ‘fit’ for you. The identity of the donor provided through Ankur Ferility will not be made known to you, likewise; your name or any details regarding your identity will not be disclosed to the donor.

  7. If there is a known female fertility problem, it may be advised that some woman undergo a schedule of medication (ovulation induction treatment) prior to insemination in order to stimulate her ovaries, to assist egg production prior to an IUI procedure. Donor sperm can also be used as part of in vitro fertilization (IVF) if a previous IUI treatment has been unsuccessful.

  8. How can you get help? Dr. Banerjee will help you to go through the process.
