  1. All You Have to Do, is Listen By: Alisha Wriston This I Believe Essay 2013

  2. Music is an Escape. Through the tough, not so tough and easy breezy parts of life, music is universal. You can come to music for any reason whatsoever. There is no need to be the perfect instrumentalist, vocalist, or DJ who puts an elaborate playlist of art together. I see music as a safe haven, you get to drift away from reality for a while and get lost in the melodies, the harmonies, and interchanging lines. I have to come to know that Music is my life, and it shapes who I am every day.

  3. From When I Was a Little Girl, listening to Bluegrass, old Rock and Roll, or even the latest hits of the current country or pop stations, Music has been a part of my life. , One song that still brings tears from those military days is, Kryptonite by Three Doors Down. . “Will you still call me Superman”, those lyrics chimed as I saw my Dad’s face for the first time in a year. I started getting jumpy and tears were streaming from my cheeks. My Dad was home, he was safe and sound here at home with the rest of his family.

  4. As I grew older, my love for music grew along with my age. I found a story in the lyrics to any song I’d listen to, no matter if it was anything Rock to pop, from Hip Hop to Classical. I had been a part of Voices in Flight, Flying Fingers, and Recorder Group. , I began the Violin my sixth grade year. I continue to play as a junior in the High School Orchestra.

  5. There was a time when my Dad told me of a story about my grandpa, my grandpa felt he couldn’t provide fully for his wife and children. He’d continue to feel this way until he attempted to kill himself with a gunshot to the head. Thankfully, he survived, although to this day he struggles with his memory. I hope that one day; I can get the chance to find the right song. To find that song that just makes sense and perform it for my Grandpa.

  6. I believe that Music is a part of everyone’s lives. I believe that there are stories to be heard, and stories to be shared. I believe that in each note whether sung or played on a given instrument, which is a voice. I believe that Music is an escape, from the good, the bad and the ugly in life. Everyone has their own tune; you just have to find your own. Music is all around us, All you have to do, is Listen.
