This document outlines the design and specifications of a hydraulic and mechanical system for processing slabs of lumber produced as byproducts from log milling. The system includes hydraulic drive units and a portable setup capable of handling slabs measuring up to 20 inches wide and 16 feet long. It features manual loading, adjustable conveyors, and integrated safety sensors. Key components like the conveyor motor and saw mechanism are detailed with a focus on operational efficiency and hydraulic specifications, making it ideal for transforming leftover slabs into usable firewood.

Background Slabs Lumber After a log is processed for lumber, slabs unfit for standard use are left over. These slabs can be processed into firewood however.
Mechanical Specifications • PTO shaft driven, 550rpm, 34hp • Hydraulically powered drive units • 12-24” cuts off of 16’ slabs • Maximum width of slabs 20” • Manually loaded slabs • Portable, most likely on a trailer
