  1. Landlocked in the central part of the country, Madhya Pradesh is bordered by the states of Rajasthan to the northwest, Uttar Pradesh to the north, Chhattisgarh to the east, Maharashtra to the south, and Gujarat to the west.

  2. Bhopal Bhopalis the capital of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh and the administrative headquarters of Bhopal District and Bhopal Division. The city was the capital of the former Bhopal State. Bhopal is known as the City of Lakesfor its various natural as well as artificial lakes and is also one of the greenest cities in India

  3. History • Madhya Pradesh occupies perhaps the oldest part of the subcontinent. • Close to Bhopal at Bhimbetka are the pre-historic caves that preserve some fascinating paintings dating back to Paleolithic times. Experts have concluded that these are at least asold as the specimen at Pyrnees.  • This was perhaps one of the earliest dwellings of human beings.

  4. Near Bhopal again, at Sanchi, one can see the votive pillar installed by the Greek Heliodorus which testifies to the fact that this region was exposed to cosmopolitan influences in the centuries before the birth of Christ. •  The grand stupa at Sanchi marks an important stage in the evolution of Indian architecture built by Emperor Ashoka the Great .

  5. Languages • The predominant and official language of the region is Hindi. … हिन्दी • In addition to standard Hindi, several regional variants are spoken, which are considered by some to be dialects of Hindi.

  6. Geography • Madhya Pradesh in Hindi can be translated to Central Province, and it is located in the geographic heart of India. • The state straddles the Narmada River, which runs east and west between the Vindhya and Satpura ranges

  7. Climate • Madhya Pradesh has a subtropical climate. Like most of north India, it has a hot dry summer (April–June) followed by monsoon rains (July–September) and a cool and relatively dry winter.

  8. Flora and fauna • Madhya Pradesh is endowed with rich and diverse forest resources. • There are four important forest types viz. Tropical Moist, Tropical Dry, Tropical Thorn, Subtropical broadleaved Hill forests

  9. Wild life • Madhya Pradesh is virtually a heaven for the wildlife lovers as the state is rich with a huge variety of fauna Madhya Pradesh is home to 9 National Parks Kanha and Bandhavgarh are world famous Parks.

  10. Heritage and architecture Three sites in Madhya Pradesh have been declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO: the Khajuraho Monuments, Buddhist Monuments at Sanchi and the Rock Shelters of Bhimbetka.

  11. Tourism Khajuraho, once the capital of Chandela rulers is 595 km from Delhi. The city is home to 22 temples which are the embodiment of great artistic activities of the rulers of the region between the 9th to the 12th centuries. Ujjain where KumbhaMela is held every 12th year, Sanchi with ancient Buddhist monuments, Bhopal the lake-side capital city, Jabalpur, famous for marble rocks and Gwalior with beautiful forts, Indore the largest city in the state, Panchmarhi, the hill station, Mandu the historical town and Amarkantak, the source of the Son and Narmada rivers are among the other tourist attractions. Kanha National Park near Jabalpur is one of the most beautiful wild life sanctuaries in India.

  12. Festivals • Festivals, too, enrich the culture of Madhya Pradesh • Apart from celebrating all other Indian festivals like Holi, Dusshera,Diwali,Eid-ul-Fitr,Christmasthe tribal festivals and fairs are also observed in full vigour and merrymaking.

  13. Music and dance • Music of Madhya Pradesh is rich and vibrant encompassing the rich heritage of musicians. • The culture of Madhya Pradesh, in true sense, is extensively recognised for its musical extravaganza and dancing rhythms. • Music from the area includes rural folk and tribal music, ceremonial and ritual music and Indian classical music. • The Gwalior Gharana is one of the oldest classical musicians of origin 1542–1605

  14. Demographics • Madhya Pradesh is a medley of ethnic groups and tribes, caste and communities. • Has amalgamation of all religions Hindu,Muslim,Jain,Christian,Budhists and Sikhs. • Bhil tribals of madhyapradesh
