  1. IPv6 Athens: 15 October 2001

  2. Agenda • IPv6 deliverable status (+ addendum) (5) • GTPv6 network update (5) • 6NET update, GTP interaction (GC/PD) (5) • EU-WIDE collaboration (TC/VC) (5) • NGN LAB (Paul) (10) • DSTM (Octavio) (10) • IPv6 firewalls (Janos) (10) • Other partner updates (5-10) • Juniper M5 Status/trials (Bernard) (15) • GTP IPv6 network topology discussion (BT/all) (10) • IPv6 second year GEANT trials discussion (all) (10)

  3. GEANT deliverable • Required as part of GEANT first year work • Deliverable submitted August 2001 • Included many contributions • Somewhat ad-hoc in nature • Do we want more formal tests and documents? • Addendum desired for some areas (by November): • IPsec • Firewalls • Wireless • Multihoming

  4. GTPv6 network • Telebit TBC2000 • Star topology, 17 connections, 10 tunnelled • Currently down pending upgrade • Will verify new functionality • New connections due: heanet, poznan • Routing • Some non-aggregated routes seen • Some route flapping seen • Seeing routes from CERN, RedIRIS and SWITCH • Need plan to fit TBC2000 in with other trials?

  5. EU-WIDE collaboration • TERENA organised meeting with WIDE after IETF in August 2001 • Largely driven by Renater activities • Historic IPv6 stack development in France • Looking for collaborative areas • Native IPv6 link from UCL to Japan still live • Being very lightly used • TC and BT visiting Japan JGN conference November 2001 • Seek to learn from Japanese (and Korean) initiatives

  6. IPv6 – future tests Athens, 16 October 2001

  7. To be decided… • GTPv6 – keep the name? • Year 2 work items, input to GEANT roadmap/deliverables • Relationship between 6NET, GTPv6, Euro6IX • and other projects (current and future) • European IPv6 network map (overview) • Native IPv6 on current GEANT infrastructure • losing PVCs – do we tunnel, encapsulate or other? • NREN IPv6 roadmaps and position statements • GTPv6 router hardware • Juniper, Hitachi, Telebit, (+ FreeBSD, Cisco?) • Need functionality (current and future) • Testbed architecture – interior routing protocols?
