  13. Lynx+ in combination with RedFox will open new application possibilities. Lynx+ as a powerful ring-switch together with RedFox which can be tailored for special application needs such as several Gbit ports in combination with other communication modules. This is an example of what can be quoted New application possibilities

  14. The fact that all equipment have the same user interface, security features, and redundancy options will give us perfect tools for designing complex networks made easy. New application possibilities

  15. Lynx+ Water application In water and wastewater applications security and redundancy is of importance. Some of the units might also be installed in the fields. Those units needs to be connected in a secure way and with redundant connections. How can this be solved?

  16. Lynx+ Water application VRRP has now been implemented in WeOS. This feature will allow a host system to have redundant or backup GW (GateWays) to the field devices or remote networks. The VRRP protocol operates by creating a virtual gateway address that is transferred between two routes depending on which one is primary. X GW GW VRRP

  17. Lynx+ Water application In the WeOS, we also have support for VPN tunnels. The VPN connection is encrypted and secured. In the Lynx and RFI it is possible to run 5 simultaneous VPN tunnels. VPN

  18. Lynx+ Water application In the WeOS, we also have support for VPN tunnels. The VPN connection is encrypted and secured. In the Lynx and RFI it is possible to run 5 simultaneous VPN tunnels. VPN

  19. Lynx+ Water application In WeOS we also have support for OSPF. OSPF is a powerful way of creating fault tolerant networks over WANs using VPNs or direct connections. OSPF VPN X GW X X VRRP OSPF

  20. Lynx+ Energy application • Utility companies have several security critical applications where there is a demand for firewalls and De-militarized zones. • How can this be achieved? Trusted networks Un-trusted networks DMZ

  21. Lynx+ Energy application • Examples of un-trusted network communication is HTTP and HTTPS. • A trusted network will typically generate information to SCADA systems from industrial protocols i.e. Ether IP Profinet, CC Net, Modbus TCP . • The SCADA system needs to have an interconnection to both the un-trusted and the trusted networks Trusted networks VLAN4 DMZ Un-trusted networks VLAN2 VLAN3 SCADA server

  22. Lynx+ Energy application • The un-trusted network shall be prevented to access the trusted network. In WeOS we have integrated firewalls where it is possible to set roles based on each port. Trusted networks VLAN4 X Un-trusted networks DMZ VLAN2 VLAN3 SCADA server

  23. IP CCTV & IP Broadcasting • The migration to IP brought a wider range of possibilities to video surveillance and broadcasting systems. Running cables all the way from the central end to each and every camera or display is no longer necessary when migrating to IP.Migrating to IP also means migrating from simplex to duplex, enabling communication in both directions and making services such as automatic syncronisation of date and time, firmware upgrades and local recording possible.

  24. IP CCTV & IP Broadcasting • Long distance transmission of IP Video over existing backbone systems makes it possible to selectively monitor trackside cameras without draining the system’s bandwidth when cameras are not monitored. In the same way, it is possible to ‘broadcast’ a single stream over the network and make it available to an unlimited amount of users, using only the bandwidth of the single stream to each network node. Trackside IP CCTV Camera

  25. IP CCTV & IP Broadcasting • With the topologies and redundancy protocols supported in WeOS, Westermo is able to offer a IP CCTV & IP Broadcasting solution based on any kind of media.Whether it is copper, fiber or inter-station transmission over SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy) backbones, WeOS offers all the protocols needed to built and manage the network solution.

  26. IGMP Snooping and fast reconnect • If unicast is used for transmitting video streams each stream is sent individually. Each stream will therefore increase the network load. • In case of an application with Wolverine that will cause the SHDSL wire to be a bottleneck for the transmission.

  27. IGMP Snooping and fast reconnect • Instead of using unicast we can use multicast and IGMP Snooping. In this case there will only be one video stream. The receiver that wants to view the stream just send a join message to the multicast server. • When terminate the stream it instead has to send a leave message. Join Join

  28. IGMP Snooping and fast reconnect • IGMP join and leave are controlled by timers but in WeOS we have implemented IGMP Snooping on top of FRNT. • This will get us a reconfiguration time of a video stream of 20 ms instead of several seconds it may take when using timers. X
