BACKGROUND • OccupationalStandardsCommission (OSC) establishedunderthecoordination of TurkishEmploymentAgency(1992) • Pilot studieshavebeenconductedunderthescope of WB EmploymentandTrainingProject, thedraftLaw on NationalOccupationalStandardsAuthority has beenprepared (1995-2000) • The draft has beenrevisedunderthescope of SVET Project fundedbyEC (2003-2006) • Commitment of theGovernmentunderthescope of EU screeningprocess (2006) • Withintheframework of EU harmonisation, theVQA Lawnumbered 5544 has beenapproved(21 September 2006) • The Executive Board has beenelected in VQA General Assembly(8 December 2006) • Thebudget of theAuthority, staffplanningandworkprogrammefor2007 havebeendetermined (28 February 2007)

ACCREDITATION OF EDUCATION AND TRAINING INSTITUTIONS Accreditation of education and training institutions; • Accreditation of education and training institutions will be realised by training accreditation institutions authorised by VQA. • A commission is established including the represantatives of related ministries, employers and employees organisations and proffessional organisations to be authorised in accrediting public education and training institutions. • Education and training institutions seeking to be accredited education institution apply to the education accreditation institutions appointed by VQA. • Assessment criteria which forms the basis of accreditation of education and training institutions are determined by Executive Board with the opinions of MoNE,CoHE, education accreditation institutions and employers, employees and vocational organisations .
