In this lesson, students will explore the essential relationship between the radius, diameter, and circumference of a circle. Students will learn that the radius is half the diameter (1/2d), while the diameter is twice the radius (2r). The circumference can be calculated using the formulas: C = πd or C = 2πr. Engaging activities and practice problems will solidify these concepts. An interactive online tool will provide further hands-on experience. Join us in discovering the magic of Pi and circle measurements!

TEKS Objective • 6.6C Describe the relationship between radius, diameter, and circumference of a circle.
Parts of a circle Diameter Radius Circumference – The distance around the circle
The Radius is half of the Diameter. 1/2d The Diameter is twice as big as the radius. 2TTr
The magic of Pi (TT) • Circumference is found by multiplying pi by the diameter! 12 Circumference = 12TT
You may also find Circumference by multiplying pi times 2r (or twice the radius) Circumference = 2TTr 2 * TT * 3 2 * 3.14 * 3 3 = 18.84
