RAUPEX PIPES REHAU PEXa TECHNOLOGY • Terminology • PEX is cross-linked (X) polyethylene (PE) • PEXa is manufactured using processing method “a” • RAUPEX is REHAU’s trade name for our PEXa cross-linked polyethylene pipe • PEXa was invented by Dr. Thomas Engel, who was awarded the patent for new technique • Technology was originally known as “Engel Method” • Technical description is: “High-pressure peroxide cross-linking” or PEXa • PEXa was pioneered by REHAU starting in 1968, now with forty years of experience • Known as the “REHAU high-pressure peroxide cross-linking process,” or PEXa

RAUPEX PIPES RAUPEX O2 BARRIER OXYGEN DIFFUSION BARRIER ACCORDING TO DIN 4726 • EVAL oxygen diffusion barrier is the outer layer • Prevents oxygen diffusion through the pipe wall • Protects iron and steel (ferrous) components from corrosion caused by dissolved oxygen in the water • Meets or exceeds the requirements of DIN 4726 RAUPEX Adhesive(Red) EVAL O2 Barrier

  28. WHY DO WE NEED THE SAFETY OF EVERLOC? HIGH-TEMPERATURE HYDRONIC HEATING IS A DEMANDING APPLICATION… …SO IS REAL LIFE PEX pipes and fittings may experience: • Prolonged high temperature exposure - up to 200°F in baseboard systems, pressures up to 80 PSI • Frequent thermocycles - whenever system turns on after period of inoperation (cold-hot cycles) • Mechanical stress - expansion/contraction of system components, pipes could be bent at the connections • Installation errors - access is often difficult where the fittings are needed • In areas with limited visibility or reach, EVERLOC fittings may be easier to assemble
