  3. Winter Meeting 2002 The Technology Services Department is committed to developing, maintaining and facilitating the implementation of efficient, integrated technology strategies that meet the needs of the association and its members. Our Purpose:

  4. Winter Meeting 2002 • Extreme Logic engaged to survey staff and complete analysis of current technology. • Migration from Novell to Windows 2000 Server Operating System. What’s already been done: • Migration from GroupWise messaging to Microsoft Exchange & Outlook. • Reconfiguration of web servers for better performance. • Implemented perpetual plan for replacement of outdated hardware. • Reorganized and streamlined the configuration of the computer room. • Researched and negotiated contract for new ISP. (Cable & Wireless)

  5. Winter Meeting 2002 • Evaluation, and implementation of new discussion list services. • Evaluation, and implementation of new chat services. What’s Next: • Evaluation, and implementation of integrated e-commerce capabilities. • Evaluation, testing and implementation of collaboration tools for intranet and extranet. • Data analysis and evaluation of next generation membership management system. • Development and implementation of member services tracking system. • Who's Who Online Enhancements

Winter Meeting 2002 • Planned system maintenance schedules which effect system availability will be published. • Project implementation plans for Technology projects will be published to the Web. Technology Services Operating Principles: • System failures will be logged and documented. System availability statistics will be monitored and published. • All requests for Technology Service will be tracked, and service statistics generated.

Winter Meeting 2002 • K.I.S.S – Implement technology that is easy to use, administer and support. • Implement technology that has been thoroughly tested, evaluated by those that will use it and has a documented implementation plan. Technology Services Implementation Principles: • Implement technology that easily integrates with our existing infrastructure. • Implement technology that helps serve or provides value to our membership. • Properly train users on new technology to maximize its usefulness. • Solicit post implementation feedback, to insure that new technology is meeting its intended need.

Winter Meeting 2002 Future Vision: • Serve as a role model for the application and implementation of technology in knowledge-based work environments. • Provide a test bed for new technology. • Collect and analyze best practices and experiences as they relate to the application and implementation of technology • Advise and participate in the setting of standards
