  3. Review of 6:1-6Three important responsibilities of the Spirit-filled life: • Gently restoring those who are struggling with sin. • Helping those who are burdened with huge problems. • And generously contributing to the work of God by supporting our pastor-teacher.

  4. Responsibilities Of The Spirit-Filled LifeGalatians 6:6-18 #1: You Should Sow Where You Reap (v 6) “Anyone who receives instruction in the word must share all good things with his instructor.”

  5. 1 Corinthians 9:11 “If we have sown spiritual seed among you, is it too much if we reap a material harvest from you?”

  6. Responsibilities Of The Spirit-Filled LifeGalatians 6:6-18 #1: You Should Sow Where You Reap (v 6) #2: You Reap What You Sow. (v 7) “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.”

  7. Responsibilities Of The Spirit-Filled LifeGalatians 6:6-18 #1: You Should Sow Where You Reap (v 6) #2: You Reap What You Sow. (v 7) #3: You Reap More Than You Sow. (v 8) “The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.”

  8. For Want of a Nail – an old British nursery rhyme to teach children the consequences of their actions. For want of a nail the shoe was lost. For want of a shoe the horse was lost. For want of a horse the rider was lost. For want of a rider the message was lost. For want of a message the battle was lost. For want of a battle the kingdom was lost. And all for the want of a horseshoe nail.

  9. You cannot escape the consequences of your actions. Sow a thought, reap an action. Sow an action, reap a habit. Sow a habit, reap a character. Sow a character, reap a destiny. By Charles Reade (1814 –1884) was an English novelist

  12. Responsibilities Of The Spirit-Filled LifeGalatians 6:6-18 #1: You Should Sow Where You Reap (v 6) #2: You Reap What You Sow. (v 7) #3: You Reap More Than You Sow. (v 8) #4: You Reap Later Than You Sow (v 9) #5:We Reap In Proportion to How Much We Sow(v 10) “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers”

  13. 2 Corinthians 9:6 “Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.”

  14. Galatians 6:11-14 11 See what large letters I use as I write to you with my own hand! 12 Those who want to make a good impression outwardly are trying to compel you to be circumcised. The only reason they do this is to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ. 13 Not even those who are circumcised obey the law, yet they want you to be circumcised that they may boast about your flesh. 14 May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

  15. Galatians 6:15-18 15 Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is a new creation. 16 Peace and mercy to all who follow this rule, even to the Israel of God. 17 Finally, let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus. 18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers. Amen.

  16. Responsibilities Of The Spirit-Filled LifeGalatians 6:6-18 #1: You Should Sow Where You Reap (v 6) #2: You Reap What You Sow. (v 7) #3: You Reap More Than You Sow. (v 8) #4: You Reap Later Than You Sow (v 9) #5:We Reap In Proportion to How Much We Sow(v 10) Paul’s Closing Remarks (vv11-18)

  17. Paul’s five accusations against the legalists: • They are arrogant: They “want to make a good impression.” (v 12) • They are bullies: They “compel you to be circumcised.” (v 12) • They are cowards: They want to “avoid being persecuted.” (v 12) • They are hypocrites: They do not “obey the law” themselves. (v 13) • They are braggarts: They want to “boast.” (v 13)

  18. Verse 15 …the only thing that really counts is a “new creation.” Important instruction to those not yet Christian: • You do not have to keep any religious laws. • You do not have to improve yourself before becoming a Christian. • You only need to trust in Jesus as your savior. • Anyone putting their trust in Jesus will be made into a “new creation.”

  19. Verse 15 …the only thing that really counts is a “new creation.” Important instruction to those already Christian: • We are already “new creations,” but we need to be sure that we are living and behaving appropriately. • We must avoid both legalism and license (unholy living). • We must learn to live a life of love by walking in the Spirit.

  20. Galatians: For Freedom Christ Has Set Us Free I. Freedom Through Revelation (chapters 1-2) • God has revealed the true way of salvation to us. • Therefore we are free from all the other human religious doctrines in the world. • Accept no other message….Accept no other messenger. II. Freedom Through Justification (chapters 3-4) • God has set us free from the penalty of sin: Justification. • The purpose the Old Testament Law is to help us realize our need for the Savior, Jesus. • Salvation is by grace through faith in the blood of Jesus. III. Freedom Through Sanctification (chapters 5-6) • By faith the Spirit sets us free from the power of sin: Sanctification • We are sanctified as we walk in the Spirit moment by moment. • The Holy Spirit helps us to avoid both legalism and license and enables us to live a life of love that is pleasing to God
