Non-Vegetarian Food يعتبر قطاع الثروة الحيوانية والسمكية من أهم دعامات الاقتصاد الوطني حيث يقدر القطيع القومي بحوالي 140 مليون رأس بالإضافة إلي الدواجن والحياة البرية والأسماك . وتفوق عائدات هذه الثروة 150 مليون دولار سنوياً ( تمثل 50% من عائدات الصادرات الزراعية ) ، وتسهم بمعدل 20% من الناتج المحلي الإجمالي بالإضافة إلي مساهمتها في الأمن الغذائي وفرص العمالة ، كما توفر فرص تشغيل وإعاشة لأكثر من 80% من سكان الريف.وبرنامج النهضة الزراعية هو خطة خمسية من 2007م- 2011م لمشروعات قطاع الثروة الحيوانية . Status of Meat Production • يمثل قطاع الثروة الحيوانية احد ركايز الاقتصاد بعد البترول ويساهم بحوالى اكثر من خمس الناتج المحلى . • تساهم الثروة الحيوانية فى الانتاج المحلى لسنة 2007 - 16.3 %(المجلة الاحصائية ) • تكمن اهمية قطاع الثروة الحيوانية فى ان 40% من سكان السودان يعتمد على الثروة الحيوانية بصفة اساسية . • تلعب الثروة الحيوانية دور فى الامن الغذايى اذ تقوم بتوفير حاجة البلاد من اللحوم الحمراء و الالبان ومنتجات الدواجن والاسماك الى جانب فوائض متنامية للصادر من المواشى الحية واللحوم والجلود والاسماك حيث بلغت عائدات صادر هذا القطاع 178 مليون دولار لسنة 2007. • يساهم قطاع الثروة الحيوانية سنوبا بعائد صادرات الماشية من اللحوم والجلود بما يعادل 128 مليون دولار . • يشكل قطاع الثروة الحيوانية مصدر اعاشة ودخل لحوالى 80% من سكان الريف . • يشكل قطاع الثروة الحوانية ايراد للدولة من الضرائب والرسوم والذكاة . • تقوم على قطاع الثروة الحيوانية صناعات تحويلية مثل صناعة منتجات الالبان ، صناعة الاسماك ، صناعة الادوية البيطرية ، صناعة الاعلاف ، تصنيع اللحوم ، صناعة السماد العضوى ، صناعة دباغة الجلود . • يعتبر قطاع الثروة الحيوانية المحرك لبقية القطاعات الاقتصادية والخدمية الاخرى كالطرق والاتصالات والخدمات البنكيه والاسواق . • عموما يمكن القول بأن قطاع الثروة الحيوانية هو القطاع الذى يوفير الفوائض الاقتصادية التي تقوم عليه النهضة التنموية الريفية المتكاملة .
