  20. Entering the Classroom You will greet Mr. Aldredge at the door and shake his hand. You will walk into the classroom and grab all the necessary materials before going to your desk. You will silently start the Catalyst.

  21. Exiting the classroom • The bell is a signal to the teacher that it is time for class to end. The bell, however, does not dismiss the class. When dismissed, you will quietly – without running, pushing, etc. – exit the class. I will respect your passing period time as you respect my class time.

  22. Turning in Work When work is due (projects, assignments, etc.), Mr. Aldredge will ask for students to place it in the appropriate bin. Corrected work will be returned in a timely manner and will be used to determine student mastery. Homework will NOT be graded.***

  23. “Mister! I’m doing my WORK!” • Doing work IS NOT what my class is about. • Learning IS what my class is about. • If you’re doing work that’s great, but I want to see evidence of your learning.

  24. Attention Getting Signal

  25. Tardy You are tardy if you get to the classroom and the door is shut. Being tardy will result in students being sent to the office. Frequent tardiness will result in a parent meeting

  26. Absent Policy Students who are absent should ask Mr. Aldredge where the missing content is located. (The BOOK) Students ARE held accountable for work on days absent. NO EXCUSES Failure to complete work will result in loss of points for that assignment.

  27. Bathroom Policy It is expected that you use the bathroom before/after class. If you use the bathroom, then you owe me DOUBLE that amount of minutes after class (e.g. 5 min in bathroom = 10 min after class)

  28. TEAM Aldredge Without the team, we’re just individuals.

  29. Expectations of OUR Classroom • Do my tasks – and do them well! 2. Have materials 3. Be where I belong 4. Help others in need 5. Follow directions 6. BE RESPECTFUL

  30. What if I don’t listen? These are the consequences for not meeting classroom expectations (minor infractions).  Major infractions will result in the appropriate school policy consequences. • 1st offense – Verbal Warning • 2nd offense –Student moves seat • 3rd offense – Step outside and have One on One conversation with a Student choice. Student will complete a self-diagnostic referral. • 4th offense – In-class phone call home and higher authority contacted. Class essay will be required for re-entry into class.

  31. Self-Diagnostic Referral • If inappropriate behavior continues, then you will complete a self-diagnostic referral. • This will be kept on file and must be completed prior to returning to the class. • If another referral is needed, then both will be mailed home.

  32. Class Essay • If your behavior is not corrected, then you will be asked to complete a class essay. • This will need to be completed before you can rejoin the class.

  33. Refusal to work • If you are off task and have been asked to do your work, but you deliberately choose not to do it, you will sign a “Refusal to work” form. This form acknowledges that you know you are not completing the assignment and that you will not be able to make up the work. If you are off task during class, your grade will suffer.

  34. Cheating or Plagiarism • It is the responsibility that students do their own work. Students will receive a 0 for assignment(s) and or exams/quizzes that is not their own work. If behavior is consistent, the teacher will follow policies/procedures mandated by school administration. • This class will have a strict zero tolerance policy for any type of cheating.

  35. Peer Tutors • Mr. Aldredge can do almost anything, but he cannot do everything at the same time. • Peer tutors will be selected in each class that will serve as Mr. Aldredge’s henchmen/women. • The first reward for being a peer tutor is a lesson on Mr. Aldredge’s keyboard.
