  3. Information on DuPont There is about 2,500 residents There are a lot of senior citizens who reside here Is located in Luzerne County Is apart of the Pittston Area School District The Ben Franklin Kindergarten Center is on Walnut Street

  4. Polish Traditions • Many of the residents in DuPont are Polish • There is a Polish National Church in town • The Polish heritage is represented by many events that take place in DuPont • Annual Fish and Potato Pancake dinners; Pierogi sales

  5. DuPont Little League and Softball • DuPont offers a little league program. • However, the team is in partnership with another town. (Avoca) • This program has won numerous championships • DuPont also has a girls softball team • They practice right in town at the Elm Street field • The softball team as also won numerous championships

  6. Churches • Sacred Heart of Jesus • It is a Roman Catholic Church • The Church is led by Father Joe Verespy • This church has about 1,000 parishioners • Holy Mother of Sorrows • This is a Polish National Church • The Church is led by Reverend ZbigniewDawid • This church is smaller than Sacred Heart with about 500 parishioners

Local Landmarks • Cebula’s Pizza/Bar • Was first built back in 1953 • Considered to be a true DuPont landmark • It is customary for a new person to come to DuPont and try a slice of Cebula’s • Lincoln Inn • Was first built back in 1965 • Considered to be a down home restaturant • Is known primarily for two dishes • Tripe • Stuffed Shells

Sacred Heart Picnic • The first picnic was held in 1947 • Considered to be a annual tradition for not only residents of DuPont but residents of other towns close by • Was voted by the Pittston Dispatch as being one of the best church picnics around • Serves any and every kind of food available • However, this picnic is most noted for the Polish Cuisine which include, • Potato Pancakes • Pierogies • Kielbasa Sandwiches • Haluski • Tends to bring in very large crowds

  9. Also, is noted for having some of the best bands in the region come play at the picnic • John Stevens and Double Shot • Joe Lastovica and the Polka Punch • Majority of the band that play the picnic are Polka bands

Why Visit DuPont? • Even though it is a smaller town, it has the feeling of being in a larger metropolitan area. • Since it is a smaller town, Typically,“Everybody knows everybody” • Your neighbors will become some of your good friends • It is a good environment to raise a family in • Nice, safe neighborhood • Not to mention there are a lot of places and events that are located in DuPont that everyone will be talking about
