History of Ralph • He grew up in a Jewish family with a dad who painted houses • Ralph would fashion himself with expensive suites when having an after-school job • Studied business at city college in Manhattan but dropped out short of getting his degree • Served in the U.S. Army from 1962-1964 • Worked for a tie manufacturer called A. Rivetz & Co. • Designed a famous white tie which spawned his first entrepreneurial career

His Style • A Preppy English tweed look • Later on pushed away the preppy look and replaced it with the Italian power suit • Designed his first woman’s wear and a home collection in the 80’s • First fashion designer to have his own store and first to sell the whole lifestyle image that consumers flock to worldwide • Sells a lifestyle image of sophistication, class, and taste that’s timeless.

  4. His Success • His business sense is the ability to stand by his product at all costs and ability to prevail despite several business failures are what his a man whose net worth is $1 billion
