  2. Descriptive Discussion According to the graph represented by the data from the slave database, over half of the individuals whom were traded in the slave trade were male; 65.65% were male and 34.35% were female. Women represent a significantly smaller portion of the chart which is illustrated. Interpretive Discussion Slaves were used for hard labor and to work very hard under harsh conditions. Men are more capable of completing jobs of hard labor efficiently and proficiently. For this reason men were more valuable in the slave trade. This is illustrated in the graph, where a significant portion of the people traded were in fact males. Women were used for light labor such as cooking, and picking cotton and were not seen as equal value to men.

  3. Descriptive Discussion This graph illustrates most frequent African Ethnicities by Gender. According to the data illustrated black males are the majority at 51.2%. Black females are 2nd in number with a percentage of 41.1. Mulatto males and females are about equal in percentage, and they are second in highest gender and ethnicities. Males are the majority in the ethnicity black, and the minority in the other ethnicities. Interpretive Discussion Black males are the majority of slaves according to the data. This is so because a majority of slaves were black and were taken from areas in Africa. Males are the majority because they are of more value and can be of more use. Black females fall second highest because they are amongst the black race, which take up the majority of slaves. Mulatto is the second highest ethnicity, because they are a mixture of white and black , which result from slaves and slave owners mating.

  4. Descriptive Discussion According to the data the most populated identified origin is Africans with 24.2%. Creoles are next at 9.7%. The least populated origin is other with .0% and Indians with .2%. The majority of slaves were of African origin. Referring to unidentified individuals, they were the majority with 62.2%. Interpretive Discussion Slaves were taking from all over the world, but a majority of slaves were taken from Africa. The data illustrated showed that a majority of the slaves originated in Africa. Creoles which a mix of French and African had the second highest origination. This could have been creoles from France or Africa. The other origins were very little , but surprisingly Anglo, which are closest to white, had 2.2%

  5. Descriptive Discussion The pie chart illustrates the top 10 locations of Africans of Identified Origin. According to the data illustrated by the graph, 63.39% of Africans were located in Orleans. Point Capee had a percent of 6.03%, which is the second highest amount. Interpretive Discussion A majority of slaves were located in Orleans, which is today New Orleans. This is could be the case in which a majority of slave traders and slave owners were located in Orleans. There could have also been more of a demand for slaves in that location, or more land to be tended to. Pointe Capee, also located in Louisiana had the second highest slave amount according to location.
