  2. Class arrangements • Beech class will become Silver Birch class with Mr Ferran • Cedar class will become Maple class with Mr Loczy • Silver Birch class will become Chestnut class with Mrs Adams • Maple class will become Willow class with Mrs Duffield

  3. Maths and Literacy • Children will be placed into ability groups within their year group for Maths and Literacy . • These are set according to the levels the children achieved at the end of the Summer term. • We do take into account the individual child’s needs and self esteem to ensure they are placed where we feel they would achieve their full potential. • These groups are fluid – teachers meet half termly to discuss their pupils’ progress with Mrs Weston and Mrs Stace.

Wider Opportunities • Year 3 will have a dance session each week. • We hope that Year 4 will have a specialist sports coach each week. • Year 4 children will learn to play the cornet with Mr Tees. • You will be informed of after school and lunch time clubs that will be on offer for your child at the beginning of next term.

  6. Swimming • Year 4 children will go swimming. • Each child will receive 10 consecutive sessions. • The whole class will go at the same time, up to 18 children will be taught by the swimming instructor. The remainder of the class will be taught by Mr Loczy, who is a qualified swimming instructor.

  7. French All children in Key Stage 2 will learn French. As well as structured lessons we also try to include it as a discrete subject.

  8. Key stage 2 Residentials The Year 3 children will go to Lincolnsfield in the Spring term of Year 4 for 3 days. The trip to Letton will now take place for a week in the Summer of Year 6.

  9. Key stage 2 Production • The Key Stage 2 production will now take place in the Spring term of Year 5

  10. Themes • In September Year 3’s theme will be Invaders and Settlers and Year 4’s will be India. • We will communicate the rest of the themes with you at the ‘Meet the teacher’ evening in September and give you a copy so that you know what your child will be learning over the year. • Where possible we link as much of our learning in all subjects to our themes.
