  1. Agendas for Tuesday 10/14 Week 10 (9th full week of school)

  2. Juniors 10/14/14 • Warm-up: vocabulary • Fill in Character Chart (NOT the one in your packet, but the extra one you were given today) • View film and write a summary of what you see (summary due on the way out) HW: OR and paperwork

  3. Freshmen 10/14/14 • Warm-up: find evidence for your answer to yesterday’s question (check flashcards) • Small group discussions using student-created questions (reflection afterward) (timed…12 minutes) • Discuss style and practice using “The Necklace” HW: Choose one element of style from the WS and identify that element in a passage from either “The Necklace” or “Interlopers”; copy down (or type up the passage) and explain how that is an example of that particular element of style DUE: TOMORROW (write on same paper as section 2 and 3 questions and class practice) HW: OR and paperwork

  4. Title: “Group Discussion Practice #2”(one paper with all names on it) • Choose a leader and note-taker a. Leader: ask follow-up questions; keep conversation going b.Note-taker: write down page numbers and references to the text (just paraphrase what the text says); note disagreements among members (differing ideas; not huge arguments) c. EVERYONE still participates in the conversation 2. Choose one question (use any group member’s section two or three questions) and have a discussion using that question as your guide; if conversation lulls, switch to another question 3.Reflect (individual work and turn those papers in separately from group paper) (I will put up questions as more people finish the discussions)

  5. “Necklace” Discussion Reflection” 1. What did you notice about participation during the conversation? How many people? What they contributed? 2. How many times did people refer to the text? Did the references seem to support people’s views? 3. Did leader ask follow-up questions and keep discussion focused (give positive and areas of improvement for their role as leader—don’t be rude!) 4. What went well? What needs improvement for your next discussion? 5. What questions do you have about the process?
