  2. FIELD or LABORATORY APPLICATIONS MERCURY DETERMINATION with RA-915+ • mercury content in ambient air, detecting mercury spills • mercury determination in aqueous samples, EPA method 1631 • direct (no digestion) analysis of soil, complex matrixes, EPA method 7473 • mercury monitoring for indoor air (‘Instant’ NIOSH 6009 results) • mercury determination in natural gas or industrial emmisions monitoring • Air – 2 ng/m3 range -- 0.000005 - 0.1mg/m3liquids – 0.5 ng/lsolids – 0.5 µg/kg • background correctionZeeman effect with HF polarizationmodulation • size and weight460x210x110 mm; 7.5 kg • power supply220/110 Vac, 50/60 Hz;10/14 Vdc RP91 RP91C RA 915+or “Light”

  3. DIRECT MERCURY DETERMINATION IN THE FIELD MERCURY DETERMINATION with RA-915+ Gas production site Landfill site Spill ANALYTICAL INSTRUMENTATION

  4. MERCURY DETERMINATION FIELD LABORATORY Insertion of a sample in the instrument. Analysis time 1 minute. No autosampler required. Throughput up to 30samples per hour. ANALYTICAL INSTRUMENTATION

  5. FIELD MERCURY VAPOR “SNIFFER” MERCURY DETERMINATION MERCURY DETERMINATION with RA-915+ with RA-915+ Multifunctional mercury spectrometer Due to the low power consumption (15 W) and low weight (16 Lb. with built-in batteries) the spectrometer can be used for mercury determination in air and natural gas, samples of soils, rocks, water in laboratory as well as in field conditions. ANALYTICAL INSTRUMENTATION

  6. MERCURY DETERMINATION with RA-915+ 1. Real Time mercury Spectrometer with Zeeman correction for interferences. 2. Lowest Detection Limit, 2ng/M3 3. Real time measurements with MS Windows dataloging. 4. Wide measurement range, 0.000002 - 0.1mg/M3 5. Field performance verification cell 6. Simple to operate 7. Low maintenance with 48 hours repair/replacement policy ANALYTICAL INSTRUMENTATION

  7. MERCURY DETERMINATION with RA-915+ No Effect of interfering gases Gases in (high) concentration have no interfering effect exceeding 100 ng/m3 or 0.0001mg/m3. ANALYTICAL INSTRUMENTATION

  8. MERCURY DISTRIBUTION IN AIR MERCURY DETERMINATION with RA-915+ C, ng/m3 Mercury distribution along the profile crossing the area of an unidentified ore mine and a smelter. M –mineC – central part of mineS – smelterW – waste dump Figure shows the results of mercury determination along the profile of a mine, smelter and a waste dump. The RA-915+ analyzer was placed in a car, and ambient air was continuously pumped through the instrument at a rate of 20 l/min. As can be seen, with the speed of the car at about 35mph, two high peaks were detected in the central part near the mine, smelter, and dumps. Time, sec ANALYTICAL INSTRUMENTATION

  9. MERCURY DETERMINATION with RA-915+ Lumex RA 915+ vs. Tekran 2537 Performance characteristics and field study examples of three indoor air mercury measurement methods. Swartzendruber, P. and Prestbo, E.M. Frontier Geoscience, USA (poster) - 6th International conference on mercury as a global Pollutants,15.10- 19.10.2001, Minamata, Japan. ANALYTICAL INSTRUMENTATION

  10. MERCURY DETERMINATION with RA-915+ No sample preparation “DIRECT” testing of FISH samples, results in 30 seconds!

  11. MERCURY DETERMINATION IN THE AQUEOUS SAMPLES MERCURY DETERMINATION with RA-915+ Detection limit 0.2 ppt Calibration S, arb.un S, arb.un Mercury concentration, ppt 1-5– 2 ng/l, 6-8—10ng/l Time, sec ANALYTICAL INSTRUMENTATION

  12. Clancy-a Zeemanless competitionto Lumex MERCURY DETERMINATION with RA-915+ Clancy, the first US mercury sniffing dog employed at the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. Lumex RA 915 analyzer present on the right.
