Final Thoughts • Our vision for the future must encourage us to look at the vast opportunities that other technology fields can offer to enable us to develop the technology we need to ensure secure energy supplies • Attracting the young scientists and engineers of today to the energy industry is essential for its future • Making maximum use of external innovation requires a globally focused technology acquisition organization, an internal communities of practice structure which facilitates knowledge transfer and challenges communication, as well as a product development process which is flexible enough to allow incorporation of external disruptive ideas
