  1. Ecobubble Project Directions

  2. The Ecobubble Project You have just started a new company: Ecobubble. Your mission is to assemble information (build a website; make an electronic packet [PowerPoint]; paper packet; etc.) that explains to people who purchase it how your product works. Good information packets are easy to understand, attractive, informative, and accurate. Your target audience include 1) classroom teachers who will use Ecobubbleswith their students, and 2) people with a general interest in science.

  3. Your info packet must include the following… • Specific, step-by-step instructions for assembling an Ecobubble. • A section that compares/contrasts Ecobubbles and ponds (Venn diagram, T chart, etc.). • A Pyramid Model of Ecosystem Structure for your Ecobubble. This must be done at the level we cover in class. • Identification—as accurately as you are able—of the organisms in your Ecobubble. • Images (photos are absolutely the best; we can discuss other options) that cover two weeks (14 days) worth of change in your Ecobubble. This requires daily observations and attention to your Ecobubble. • A troubleshooting section that includes potential issues that arise with managing an Ecobubble, and advice for owners on handling issues. • Testimonials from Ecobubble owners lauding the benefits of your product. (These, of course, will be mostly fictional.) and…

  4. Include these vocabulary terms: • Aphotic • Biodiversity • Carrying Capacity • Cellular Respiration • Community • Consumers • Decomposers • Ecosystem • Food Web • Lentic • Lotic • Macroinvertebrates • Niche • Population • Photic • Photosynthesis • Producers • Trophic Level And, explain how Ecobubble demonstrates the Big Idea: Ecosystems consist of diverse living and nonliving components that change over time and among geographic areas.
