  1. Every Child Matters, Excellence and Inclusion Team, Bullying, and Extended Schools Presentation Whitburn Church of England Academy

  2. Every Child Matters and Excellence for All The Every Child Matters Agenda has 5 Key Main Outcomes: • Be Healthy • Stay Safe • Enjoy and Achieve • Make Positive Contribution • Achieve Economic Well Being

  3. ECM Agenda Relevance The key outcomes from the Every Child Matters Agenda have a key role in all aspects of School life : • Academic Achievement • Excellence for All • Safe School • Healthy Schools • Work Experience/Work Related Learning

  4. Day to Day ISAs work closely with Head of Learning to ensure all pupils achieve excellence. This involves a wide variety of tasks including: • Supporting pupils with their learning – in class support • Tracking pupils – doing pupil observations • Investigating Incidents • Liaising with Outside agencies • Contacting parents/carers • Dealing with bullying issues

  5. Removal Room Pupils may be working in the Removal Room for a variety of reasons: • Pupils who have been sent to call out • Pupils in Isolation following an incident • Pupils who are disapplied from certain lessons e.g. RE • Pupils on Personalised Learning Programme • Pupils may also be required to come to see us if we are investigating an incident that has happened

  6. Multi Agency Working One of the Key aims of the ECM Agenda is that all agencies that work with young people work closely together in order to ensure children's needs are meet quickly, sensitively and effectively. Other Agencies we liaise closely with are: • EWO (Education Welfare Officer) • School Nurses – does a weekly drop in • Social Workers • CAHMS Workers • Police • STEPP Workers • Workers from The Place – for LAC Pupils

  7. Bullying • Bullying occurs in all schools but at Whitburn Church of England Academy we are a telling school where students and parents can expect bullying to be dealt with if we are aware of it. • Pupils are expected to report bullying if they see someone else being bullied. • The Bullying policy is on the school website and in the School Planner. • There are many forms of bullying – all cases are investigated and school policy is applied but each case is looked at individually. • “Hands on” is not tolerated at school and will in most circumstances end up in the student being excluded from school.

  8. Child Protection ALL staff play an important role in CP. If you have any concerns about a pupil please refer these on as soon as possible to Excellence and Inclusion Manager or Assistant Head Teacher for Excellence and Inclusion.

  9. Extended Schools • The aim of the Extended Schools Initiative is that the school will be a central hub for the community. In order to make sure our children are successful it is important to make sure that the whole community is supported. • Aims for all schools to be open from 8 – 6 and all year round providing various activities including Study Support and Sporting Activities. These can be run by school staff and also outside agencies. • School offers various clubs and activities during lunch time and after school. • Child care to be provided in schools. • Further learning opportunities for adults. • Swift and easy referral to Outside Agencies.
