In the Summer of 2007, ARIN reported a significant increase in IPv4 address allocations, with over 10 /8s being allocated yearly. The total number of remaining /8s in IANA’s unallocated pool was just 49, underscoring the urgency for IPv6 adoption. The ARIN Board of Trustees outlined a resolution emphasizing that ongoing access to IPv4 resources cannot be guaranteed indefinitely and strongly recommended migration to IPv6. To sustain the Internet's growth, ARIN is tasked with ensuring the integrity of IPv4 applications while advocating for policy changes to encourage IPv6 adoption.
