Security Licensing Overview Queensland Licenses:- Class 1 • Bodyguard – Personal Protection • Private Investigator – Obtaining private information • Crowd Controller – Maintaining order • Cash in transit – Carrying cash or valuables • Security Unarmed – Watching anothers property • Monitoring – Using electronic monitoring devices • Dog Patrol – Guarding property with a guard dog Class 2 • Security Adviser – Providing security advise • Security Equipment Installer – Installing security equipment

  4. Licensing Requirement Under the provisions of the Security Providers Act 1993. A person who for reward, guards, patrols or watches another person’s property must be licensed as a security officer to perform the function in Queensland.

Licensing Requirement Class 1 holders • Fully Trained to Government Requirements. • Ongoing Training for Crowd Controllers & Bodyguards • Criminal History Checks (Australian & New Zealand) • Fingerprinted (all 34,000 in Queensland) • Subject to Code of Conduct • Can be suspended with 24 hours of being charged with a Disqualifying Offence

Licensing Requirement It is the opinion of the Office of Fair Trading that interstate or overseas monitoring companies must be licensed in Queensland to electronically monitor a person’s property located in Queensland.
