EOC Notes. Reading Strategies. Predicting. Many of the questions will ask you to use FACTS to think about what may happen later on in a passage. FACTS are information that can be proven and are unarguable. Use FACTS and common sense to make valid predictions. Evaluate.

  2. Predicting • Many of the questions will ask you to use FACTS to think about what may happen later on in a passage. • FACTS are information that can be proven and are unarguable. • Use FACTS and common sense to make valid predictions

  3. Evaluate • Evaluations are when you are asked to come to a conclusion (Opinion) about someone or something in a passage. • OPINIONS: personal view, feeling, or attitude towards someone or something that can be argued and not factually proven.

  4. Summarize • Summarize: To give a quick overview of what you have read. Use the 5 “W”’s and “H” • Who? • What? • When? • Where? • Why? • How?

  5. Quick Tips • Pre-read questions before reading selection. • Mark where you see possible answers as you read; don’t flip back and forth from reading to questions!!! • Ask yourself: What do I know, feel, or am confused about after reading? • Be aware of questions using “best”, “accurate”, and “statement”
