Pedro Describe al Cristiano Peter Describes the Christian • En su primera carta el apóstol Pedro describe varios aspectos del cristiano, comenzando con la conversión y terminando con la recompensa final • In his first letter the apostle Peter describes various aspects of the Christian, beginning with conversion and ending with the final reward.

Dios, “según su grande misericordia nos ha hecho nacer de nuevo”.Se refiere a la conversión. • 1:3, The Christian is a person that has been born again. God, “according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again.” Refers to conversion.

Queda libre de todo aquello que la pudiera manchar o hacer despreciable. • Undefiled… This inheritance has no pollution. It remains free from all that could stain or make it despised.

Everything we can see, touch, smell, hear, taste, passes away.

El monta guardia para proteger a los suyos. • 1:5, The Christian is guarded by the power of God who acts as a sentinel over our life. El sets up a guard to protect His own.

Pedro Describe al Cristiano Peter Describes the Christian • No es que nos salve de los problemas y las aflic-ciones, sino que nos capacita para enfrentarlos, soportarlos, y vencerlos, para seguir adelante. • It is not that He saves us from problems and afflictions, but that He enables us to meet, endure and conquer them, to keep going forward.

Cree en Cristo y lo ama sin haberlo visto, y “os alegráis con gozo inefable y glorioso”. • 1:6-8, The faith of the Christian is more precious than gold. He believes in Christ and loves Him without having seen Him, and rejoices “with joy inexpressible and full of glory.”

Evitar alcohol, también intoxican-tes mentales como ignorancia, prejuicio, indife-rencia y todo lo que sea enemigo de la sobriedad. • “Be sober”. Avoid alcohol, also mental intoxi-cants like ignorance, prejudice, indifference and everything that is the enemy of sobriety.

Compárese Rom. 6:1-4. • 1:15, 16, The Christian es holy. This is logical… Now forgiven… Return and continue the sinful life? Compare Rom. 6:1-4.

Templo de Salomón único… También el templo de Cristo (su iglesia). • Like Christ, Heb. 7:26. Holy = separate, different, unique. Temple of Solomon unique… Also the temple of Christ (church).

The Christian is a pilgrim and foreigner in this world: “conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay upon earth.”

Heb.11:16, “anhelaban una patria mejor, es decir, la celestial”. • The earth is not his permanent residence, but like a hotel. He’s on a journey. Heb. 11:16, “they desired a better country, that is, a heavenly one.”

Siempre vive en la presencia de Dios, consciente de su presencia. • The Christian’s life is a life of fear or reverence toward God. He always lives in the presence of God, conscious of His presence.

La lucha es como campaña militar. • 2:11, “that you abstain from fleshly lusts that war against the soul”, like an enemy army. The struggle is like a military campaign.
