  1. “Desire” Part 3

  2. For many people, the option they choose is to reduce the desire for a more manageable size.

  3. James 4.1-2 “ What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Isn’t it the whole army of evil desires at war within you? You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous for what others have, and you can’t possess it, so you fight and quarrel to take it away from them.”

  4. We tend to suffer the violation of indifference on a daily basis. Jesus knew to what lengths we would go to seek satisfaction of our soul’s hunger.

  5. Romans 7:20-23 Galatians 5.17 “For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit…they are in conflict with each other…”

  6. Jesus was saying ‘I am the gate…’ John 10.9-10 The greatest enemy of holiness is not passion; it is apathy.

  7. Hebrews 12.2 “…the joy set before Him…” Jesus’ profound desire for something greater sustained him at the moment of his deepest trial.

  8. Matthew 25.14-30 When we bury our desires, we are saying the same thing. To live with desire is to choose vulnerability over self-protection.

  9. “Desire gives fervor to prayer. The soul cannot be listless when some great desire fixes and inflames it. Strong desires make strong prayers. The neglect of prayer is the fearful token of dead spiritual desires. There can be no true praying without desire.” --E.M. Bounds
