  8. Importance • Art: Artists today feel more free to express themselves and create unique artwork • Architecture: Buildings today are built based on Renaissance architecture. The idea that the most important building is the tallest building is used today as well. • Writing: Vernacular writing is still used today.

  9. Key Terms Humanism- intellectual movement of the Renaissance based on the study of humanities Individualism- people express their unique opinions and emotions Petrarch- father of humanism Fresco- painting done on fresh, wet plaster with water based paints
