Climate • It has colder climate than other places. • Winters are the coldest time of year in the boreal forests. • The snow can reach heights over our heads. • The summers are rainy and warm enough to melt all the snow. • Average temperature are 10 degrees celsius. • They have short cool summers and long frigid winters. • Light precipitation mainly focusing in summer. Average rainfall- 20-200 cm. of rain.

  4. Location • Located in North America , the Appalachian mountains. • Also located in the Eurasian territory. • North of Deciduous forests • South of the tundra.

  6. Typical features. • Most of the trees are coniferous. • It’s damp. • Trees are adapted to cold climate.

  7. Organisms and adaptations TREES AND PLANTS Most of the trees are coniferous trees. Coniferous trees are almost like pine trees they have leaves in the shape of needles this is to hold in moisture. These trees include fir, spruce, hemlock & others. Their adaptations include thick waxy needles to hold in water to keep from evaporating.

ORGANISMS AND ADAPTATIONS • ANIMALS • Many of the animals that live here eat the seeds of coniferous trees because they are simply easiest to find instead of hunting or foraging. • Those animals include red squirrels, insects, finches, and chickadees. • But the predators and herbavoresinclude snowshoe hares, moose, and beavers. • the carnivores include wolves bears falcons owls and siberiantigers
