Sales Careers • Among top 10 occupations • Largest growth • Retail, cashier, insurance, real estate, financial services and manufacturing. • Retail sales: salesperson sells merchandise and services to a customer. • Wholesaler: sells products to retailers, other wholesalers, industrial firms, government agencies or businesses. • Financial service representatives: work with people who want to invest money (stocks, bonds, mutual funds)

  3. Retail Sales • Meijer, Macy’s, Walgreen’s, Panera Bread, Super Cuts • Two Ways to Sell • (1) Personal Selling: hire staff to personally sell products to customers. • Jewelry vs. clothing • (2) Self-Service: hire cashiers or clerks. Customers need little or no assistance.
