  2. Evaluate the Casualties • According to the tactical situation • Tactical Combat Casualty Care: • Care under fire • Tactical field care • Combat casualty evacuation care

  3. Coordinate Treatment/MEDEVAC • Self-aid/buddy aid IAW tactical situation • and available resources • Request medical evacuation • Make contact • Determine movement

  4. Move a Casualty • Prepare the litter • Open the litter • Lock bars • Prepare the casualty • Place casualty on litter • Secure casualty

  5. Four-Man Litter Carry

  6. Uphill and Downhill Carries

  7. Litter Post Carry/Rotation

  8. Ground Ambulance • Secure each casualty to their litter • Load most serious casualty last • Load casualty head first • Secure each litter to vehicle M1133 Stryker Medical Evacuation Vehicle (MEV)

  9. Air Ambulance - 1 • Remain 50 yards away • Approach aircraft in full view of crew • Maintain a low silhouette • Approach aircraft from the sides HH-60L Black Hawk

  10. Air Ambulance - 2 • Load most seriously casualty last • Load upper birth first, then immediately • below • Place casualty lengthwise, head • toward direction of travel • Secure casualty’s litter to aircraft

  11. Air Ambulance - 3 UH-1H/V Iroquois

  12. Ground Military Vehicle - 1 • Load and secure casualties • Monitor for life-threatening conditions • CASEVAC - movement of casualties • aboard nonmedical vehicles or aircraft

  13. Ground Military Vehicle - 2 M998 1 1/4 ton, 4x4, cargo truck/ troop carrier
