  1. Blessed David Caron

  2. Psalms 118:26 • “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord”

  3. Josh 24:15 • “But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”

  4. Service in the temple • Service in the temple in the Holy place performed by the priests was unto the LORD. IT may have been of various types… trimming the wicks, or baking the bread, or providing incense for the alter of incense, but always the service is unto the LORD. Likewise our service is unto the LORD for the edification of the saints

  5. And who is actually serving… • Ephesians 4:11 “So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers,” • The service rendered in ICor 2:4 is from the Spirit as it says ICor 2:4 “And my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power…”

  7. I Peter 4:10 • I peter 4:10 has this special phrase “Manifold grace of God” in it; the full verse I Pet 4:10”As each one has received a gift, employ it in serving one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.”

  9. ICor 12:7-12 • Paul says… ICor 12:7-12 “But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, and to another the effecting of miracles and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues and to another the interpretation of tongues.”

  10. I Cor 12:7-12 (continued) • But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills. For even as the body is one and yet has many members and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ.”

  11. I Corinthians 14:12 • So also you, since you are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek to abound for the edification of the church.

  12. James tells us… • James 2:17-18 Even so faith without works is dead, being by itself. But someone may well say, “You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works.”

  13. Psalms 118:26 • ברוך הבא בשם יהוה ברכנוכם מבית יהוה׃

  14. bO “comes” or “enters” • Ha ba… verb bo • Ha= who • Bo=come • Could be enters • Could indicate as Gen 49:10 comes • For Ezek 21:27 He comes • Even seen in Zechariah 9:9

  16. Ba ב • בשם • Ba: what is meant… • In • with, among, of, upon, on, at, into, by • “of”, “consisting of”, i.e., “a marker of substance”

  17. of a state or condition, whether material or mental, in which an action takes place: so בְּשָׁלוֹם in peace Gn 15:15; בַּצָּרָהψ 81:8בְּצָ׳91:15 in distress; הָלַךְ בְּתֻמּוֹto walk in his integrity Pr 28:6; Ex 5:19 בְּרָע in evil case.

  18. Mark 11:7-10 (see also Zechariah 9:9) 7 Then they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their clothes on it, and He sat on it. 8 And many spread their clothes on the road, and others cut down leafy branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 Then those who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: “Hosanna! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ 10Blessed is the kingdom of our father David That comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”

  19. Revelations 1:8 • (2.) Let the priests, the Lord’s ministers, do their part in this great solemnity, v. 26. [1.] Let them bless the prince with their praises: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord. Jesus Christ is he that cometh—ho erchomenos, he that was to come and is yet to come again, Rev. 1:8. He comes in the name of the Lord, with a commission from him, to act for him, to do his will and to seek his glory; and therefore we must say, Blessed be he that cometh; we must rejoice that he has come; we must speak well of him, admire him, and esteem him highly, as one we are eternally obliged to, call him blessed Jesus, blessed for ever, Ps. 45:2. We must bid him welcome into our hearts, saying, “Come in, thou blessed of the Lord; come in by thy grace and Spirit, and take possession of me for thy own.” We must bless his faithful ministers that come in his name, and receive them for his sake, Isa. 52:7; Jn. 13:20. We must pray for the enlargement and edification of his church, for the ripening of things for his second coming, and then that he who has said, Surely I come quickly, would even so come. [2.] Let them bless the people with their prayers: We have blessed you out of the house of the Lord. Christ’s ministers are not only warranted, but appointed to pronounce a blessing, in his name, upon all his loyal subjects that love him and his government in sincerity, Eph. 6:24. We assure you that in and through Jesus Christ you are blessed; for he came to bless you. “You are blessed out of the house of the Lord, that is, with spiritual blessings in heavenly places (Eph. 1:3), and therefore have reason to bless him who has thus blessed you.” • Henry, M. (1994). Matthew Henrys commentary on the whole Bible: complete and unabridged in one volume (p. 913). Peabody: Hendrickson.

  20. Psalms 118:26 • ברוך הבא בשם יהוה • Blessed is He who comes with the name YHWH

  21. Why? • So why do we bring up the phrase Ps118:26 and Matthew 21:9 in a conversation concerning serving one another and those yet to be called into His church… • Because of Psalms 118: 27-28 27God is the Lord, And He has given us light; Bind the sacrifice with cords to the horns of the altar. 28You are my God, and I will praise You; You are my God, I will exalt You.

  22. We will Finish like the Psalmist does • Psalms 118:29 Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.
