Causes of Acute Pain Acute pain is the most frequent form of pain, and it causes by ordinary diseases or injuries, such as cuts and sprains, or trauma, such as that caused by a catastrophic accident or significant surgery. Acute pain comes on unexpectedly and, in most cases, disappears as the body heals.

  3. Causes Chronic Pain If the pain lasts for more than three months, it is chronic or persistent pain. You may need assistance from your physician in order to identify the origin of your pain and establish how to manage it
