  1. Winton Woods High School Computer Lab Usage Guidelines

  2. Take Care of the Equipment • Having respect for the computers will make them last longer and be more useful for everyone.

  3. Keep Your User ID and Password Private. • NEVER LET SOMEONE ELSE USE YOUR COMPUTER ACCOUNT, EVEN WITH YOUR PERMISSION. You will be held responsible for any action taken under your account name.

  4. Use Only Your Assigned Computer. • Students may not use the teacher’s station computer. • You may change stations only with permission.

  5. Do Not Enter the Computer Lab Until the Teacher is Present. • This is for your own safety and protection.

  6. Food, Beverages, Chewing Gum, and Cosmetics Are Not Permitted In the Lab. • Spills and dirt can damage the equipment.

  7. Do Not Install or Use Outside Software in the Lab • Chat software, games, music software, etc. are not allowed.

  8. Email • May be used WITH PERMISSION for transfer of files relating only to this class.

  9. Ask For Permission To Print, Then Click Print ONCE • Print files go into a “queue” so your file may not print immediately

  10. Back Up Your Work • Save every assignment in your My Documents folder and on a floppy disk or flash drive. You don’t want to lose all your hard work!

  11. Privacy • Your privacy on school computers is not guaranteed! Only use school computers for approved activities.

  12. Software Piracy Is Illegal • Don’t use school computers to copy or transfer pirated software or files.

  13. Report Computer Problems • If something is wrong with your computer or other equipment, tell the teacher. Don’t try to fix it yourself.

  14. Wash Your Hands • You share the lab with many other students, so wash your hands after using the computer lab.

  15. Technology is Fun! • Have a great year!
