  3. Graduation Requirements

  4. Please make sure that you follow the course sequence. EX: You cannot take your fourth science before taking Physics. For more details please see the course bulletin at www.hcisd.org/coursebulleting2012

  5. TSTC Graduation • Academic Core • Transfers to any public college/university in the state of Texas • Associates Degrees • Make sure the courses in degree align with your major at the respective college/university you plan to attend • Both require students to apply for graduation

  6. TAKS • Students must satisfy requirements in all 4 areas of this exam. • English Language Arts - Mar 4 • Mathematics - Apr 23 • Science - Apr 24 • Social Studies - Apr 25 Exit Level TAKS Retest: Apr 22 July 8-12

  7. AP Tests • Advanced Placement tests allow students the opportunity to earn college credit • Tests are offered in early May • Students traditionally prepare for exams in AP classes • Registration begins in mid-March • Cost to you: $5 or $10 per exam • Credit is granted based on • Score earned • Requirements set by college

  8. Testing • SAT • ACT New Requirements for both SAT & ACT • Upload a Student picture • Prints on Admission Ticket • Early College High School Code is 443127 • TSTC School Code is 6843

SAT Fees • Basic fees • SAT (with plus writing) $50 • SAT Subject Tests • Basic registration fee (per registration) $23 • Language with Listening Tests Add $23 • All other SAT Subject Tests Add $12 (other charges may apply, i.e. late registration $27, not covered by fee waiver) ECHS Seniors 2013

SAT Tests • The SAT measure what you have learned in school & how well you can apply that knowledge • Assesses how well you analyze & solve problems • SAT scores are used for college admissions purposes because the test predicts college success • All scores are reported on the 200-800 scale • Most students take the SAT in the spring of their junior year and again in the fall of their senior year of high school • Ensure “Send Scores” is selected; sends up to 4 score reports free • Takes about 5 weeks to receive score reports

ACT • The ACT is universally accepted for college admission. • The ACT is curriculum-based. • The ACT is not an aptitude or an IQ test • Questions on the ACT are directly related to what students have learned in high school courses in English, mathematics, and science. • The ACT also provides test takers with a unique interest inventory that provides valuable information for career and educational planning and a student profile section that provides a comprehensive profile of a student's work in high school and his or her future plans. • The ACT includes 215 multiple-choice questions and takes approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes to complete, including a short break (or just over four hours if you are taking the ACT Plus Writing). Actual testing time is 2 hours and 55 minutes (plus 30 minutes if you are taking the ACT Plus Writing). • Ensure “Send Scores” is selected; sends up to 4 score reports free • Takes 3-8 weeks to receive score reports • Takes 5-8 weeks for the ACT plus Writing
