  1. Welcome to Green Valley Middle School Home of the Vikings

  2. Green Valley’s Mission • We will provide a safe community in which all students are challenged to become productive workers, life-long learners, and responsible citizens.

  3. Code of Ethics • No one has the right to put another person down for any reason. • Every action has a ripple effect, whether positive or negative, I will choose the positive. • Bullying is not acceptable at Green Valley. • I will do my part to make this school a safe and friendly place.

  4. Technology Computer Lab 200 Chromebooks being installed as we speak 40 science computers coming by the end of this year BYOD We are moving toward bringing your own device New principal will be e-mailing/tweeting

  8. P.E. • Classes are co-ed • Examples of activities are soccer, flag football, badminton, and other team sports • Proper warm-up is emphasized • Locker room security

  11. Registration • Gate program (student qualifies through district test) • Gate classes are offered in English, history, and science. Students who qualify can choose to be enrolled in these classes. • 6th grade teacher recommends placement (regular-special ed. – ELD • Advanced math • To qualify for Compacted Math students will take an assessment at the end of this year.

Registration (cont.) • Parent discusses elective choices with his/her student. • Student chooses elective • Interventions needed in place of electives when student scores far below basic, or below basic on STAR testing and has low grades • Students need to complete immunization process to attend school in the fall. • Parents must complete emergency cards and return to 6th grade teacher

Registration process (cont.) • Last week in June students will receive a Welcome Letter which reminds them when Orientation is and gives times when students can purchase P.E. clothes • Students will receive their schedule right after orientation (7th graders) • Orientation/ WEB (welcome every body) Day is Wednesday, August 6, 9:00 A.M.- 11:30 • School starts Wednesday August 13th

  15. School Day • 6 classes • 9:15 – 3:20 • 4 minutes between classes • Single lunch 34 minutes • Pay with I.D. card – on-line • Burrito Bar, snack bar, sandwiches, special – each day - $ 2.75 • After school programs • Breakfast • $1.50 – 8:45 A.M.
