  2. The first two chapters • Two exhortations of Philippians • Chapter One – Living worthy of the Gospel through unity and courage • Chapter Two – Unity and Self-abnegation with the Supreme example found in the mind of Christ

  3. Self-abnegation: The refusal to let personal interest or advantage govern ones life. It is not self-hatred, self-despising, or rejection of self.

  4. Therefore is there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

  5. Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

  6. Philippians 2:1-4 • CHRIST IS OUR SOURCE • LOVE IS OUR INCENTIVE • UNITY IS PAUL’S JOY • THE TRUE JOY OF FELLOWSHIP
